Good Morning Vietnam!

Sorry, I couldn't resist quoting Robin Williams. I woke up in Vietnam this morning!
Susan and I had a good, but long trip over. My friend Ron dropped me off at the airport at 11:00pm Thursday night, and as I was checking in, I was told our flight was delayed. Susan's Mom and sister stayed and visited with us until about 1:00 in the morning, and then we went into the boarding area and napped for a while. Our plane didn't leave until about 4:00am.
The delay meant that we missed our connecting flight to Vietnam, so in Hong Kong, Cathay Airlines gave us a hotel room, a free lunch and re-booked us on a flight about 6 hours later. We emailed the change in flights to our contact in Vietnam, had lunch, and then shopped until it was time to get back to the airport.
Another 2 1/2 hours later, we were here! The hotel sent a shuttle to pick us up. The Somerset Ho Chi Minh is a lovely apartment residence. We have a beautiful 2 bedroom suite with kitchen, laundry and Wi-Fi. There is an open-air restaurant beside the pool and hot-tub. Tennis courts, playground and an air conditioned children's playroom. And the coffee at breakfast this morning was amazingly good! I had 3 cups.
Susan's adoption ceremony is scheduled for Tuesday! We will start out at 6am for the 5 hour trip to Tra Vinh with another couple from Quebec.

I'm Going to Vietnam!

Well, Susan got 'the CALL'. I didn't. My heart fell through the floor, until I decided to go with her! (Susan is family #6, I'm #5, and family#7 is home with an adorable son already.)

We knew that both our files made it to the DoA's office on Feb 5th, and he processed Susan's file before the Tet holidays. I decided to go with Susan, be at her adoption ceremony, experience everything with her, then wait for my file to be processed after Tet.

If all goes well, Susan could possibly still be in Vietnam for my ceremony. If all doesn't go well, then I can still visit Molly at her orphanage, and enjoy a vacation in the tropics until my file is signed off. I may be leaving a few days to a few weeks early.

I'm going to Vietnam! In a few days! I'll meet Molly soon!

A Little More News About Molly

Yayyy! I got an email from my agency saying that my file was being sent to the Director of Adoptions (DOA) today. The DOA could either:
  1. sign it, which means I would travel in a couple of weeks, or
  2. send it back for more investigation, which could hold things up for a couple of more months.

Stay tuned - I'll find out next week what happened!
